Artifact Boxes

This is a sketch of a curriculum activity guide to go with the main page.

You can make artifact boxes for the class to work with. Make up a box like those in the pictures. Out artifacts in each box. You can use cardboard cutouts with drawings on the for flint tools. Use broken flower pots for pottery, bones from the kitchen and so on. Make up paperwork to go with each box. You could also include background research materials for the site.

Have the students form teams. Each team examines the contents of their box. They record the size, material, color, and description of each artifact in the box. Then they try to come up with explanations of what the collection of items in the box means.

When finished, this page would be much longer and have more details and links. Also this is a good place to put the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills tie in.
